Hi, I’m Jamie. I was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and I still live here. I’m a huge football fan since I was about seven years old. I try to watch as many football matches as I can, and I have played football in the past (at a club I mean) and am trying to get back into that. Since I also have a big interest in Geography and Politics, as this is also the subject of my studies, I always try to see football from these perspectives. Especially the link between football; location and the supporters are of great interest to me. I also really like travelling, so I have been trying to go to football matches at some different places. I hope through this blog, I will be able to bring together my greatest passions!
This is my blog on the FIFA World Cup 2022. For this blog, my main goals are to follow the complete World Cup qualifiers and eventually the final tournament. It will cover over three years of living up towards the big tournament. I will try to keep you up to date , to cover interesting stories about the nations participating, provide in-depth information about football teams, players, matches and the preparations for the world cup in 2022 in Qatar. Although I don’t necessarily agree with the allocation of Qatar as being the future host of the World Cup, I will try to remain focussed on the football side of things rather than the politics and economics surrounding the tournament. This is because I have a passion for football and although I do follow political issues quite closely, generally for my studies, I want to put emphasis on who are scoring the goals and which teams are experiencing amazing journeys towards the World Cup.
I also want you to be involved. If you have any additions/remarks/corrections/suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me or comment to the articles. Also, please keep in mind that English is not my native language and that I’m new to blogging, so if you have any tips on how to improve my writing/storytelling please let me know. Lastly, I am not an expert in football or writing, but I am trying to improve in these subjects. Most information will come from Wikipedia or FIFA.com match reports, but I do hope to increase and improve on my sources as the project continues and I’ll be able to watch many games, also out of my home region, that being Europe. At the end of the day, I’m just trying to learn a thing or two and I hope you learn something too and follow me through this journey; and most importantly, have some fun 😉
